Do you believe happiness is a choice?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for September 27, 2007:
I believe that happiness is a state of mind that is greatly influenced by your everyday life. Alot of people would choose to be happy, if their life would alow it, but how can you be happy when you are looking at being homeless, or not being able to feed your kids. How can you be happy in the dead of winter, when you can't pay your heating bill? Or how can you be happy when your child is sick, and you can't buy their medication? I don't believe that happiness is a choice, I believe that it happens when your life is comfortable and you know that you take care for yourself and your loved ones, mentally, physically and spiritually. I belive that our happiness lies in Gods hands.

<<Each one of us has some kind of vocation. We are all called by God to share in His life and in His Kingdom. Each one of us is called to a special place in the Kingdom. If we find that place we will be happy. If we do not find it, we can never be completely happy. For each one of us, there is only one thing necessary: to fulfill our own destiny, according to God's will, to be what God wants us to be.”>>
- Thomas Merton, No Man is an Island
Many of us Zaadsters feel that Zaadz IS part of our destiny-fulfillment.
Merton's words are in the of the book/movement…”Man's Search for Meaning.”
RE: I belive that our happiness lies in Gods hands.
There are perspective/metaphors/paradigms other than the:
*anthropomorphic
*monotheistic
*manual
At the 1992 alternative Rio Summit (when so many of us felt that with so many NGOs, then the powers-that-be would be forced to listen, and the eco-cidal Neo-Titanic would/must change course), Cal. Assemblyman Tom Hayden (former SDSer/former husband of Jane Fonda) offered a Gaia-an/Geo-centric (rather than a Theo-centric)perspective…that we humans can be?should be as the conscious minds/hands of Mother Earth. If we know our Mother is being raped, some of us can feel our destiny-fulfillment is linked with the struggle to off the beastly System…by any means necessary…in the tradition of:
*Gandhi struggling against the British Empire
* the French Underground struggling against the German Empire
