This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for September 21, 2007:
The best letter I've ever recieved was one from the US Dept. of the Treasury. I remember it was in April of 2000. I evidently had made a big mistake on my tax returns, and it was in my favor. Instead of getting a return for $300, we were getting a return for $3000. It was wonderful. We recieved the check only one week later, it couldn't have come at a more perfect time. We were so broke, we didn't even have the money to buy diapers for our son, the rent was past due, and we didn't have any food. Besides all that, we were living in a dumpy trailer, where I had to sleep with my son, because you could hear the rats running through the walls. Needless to say, one week later we moved into a nicer, bigger place. It was wonderful, almost like being a kid at Christmas, all over again.
